Take a cat...

take a cat gouache 1 of 4
take a cat gouache 2 of 4
take a cat gouache 3 of 4
take a cat gouache 4 of 4

The words in this are by Mikle. I found them on his blog, Unbearable, and knew straight away that I would make some kind of strip of them (with Mikle's permission) although I wasn't sure exactly what until I started it. And, pretty much as soon as I started it, Mikle's blog disappeared from the wwworld which is why I'm unable to link to it and the specific entry. Thankfully not all of Mikle's writing disappeared with his blog.

Oh, and I hope I don't have to point out that you shouldn't take this literally. Both Mikle and myself have had many dealings with cats and on no occasion have any cats, people or other creatures (except possibly wasps and ants in my case I'm sorry to confess) ended up flat.

UPDATE: I've just heard that Mikle has started another blog now,.... Also, this is up on Mikle's website.

Excellent.

Have put 'em up on my site, and linked back to you.

Oh, and likewise, I don't endorse the use of mats when stamping on cats.

Use a sack and tie it up, the lil' buggers can't escape then...

I mean, no, don't take it as a real hobby!
leave cat mat stamping to the professionals....

hmmm, not getting this across right am I ?

O.K., hands up anyone out there stupid enough to beleive we do stampmatcats?
That's good....I can't see any hands...

see you all around.....

So let me get this straight - when are you starting your cat stamping lessons and where can I buy one of those specially endorsed sacks?

Cheers!

(In case it isn't clear, {minion} wrote the poem in the first place...)

It's lovely to see you two working together. I love the way you've done this Dem. And a lovely cat-massacre poem from you Mikle.

Lots of love from .707 of maxxxxxx

Cheers Molly! I'm really happy with this in the end, probably because I thought I'd totally mucked it up at one point and managed to get it back.

What's .707 of maxxxxxx?

That's very odd - even after I force and update of this entry and the front page, it reckons my reply to Molly's comment doesn't exist and I haven't received a notification of it by email but then when I click on post a comment, it's here. Ghost comments at guild of ghostwriters horror!

I know it's probably the worst punny joke ever but I have to say I'm rather disappointed that nobody has commented (noticed?) the Schrodinger's mat gag. Perhaps I should just get me coat...

Schrodinger's mat was noticed, but didn't think you'd want me to point it out as you drew it...

I'm sure most people will get the gag....or just sit there wondering who the **** Schrodinger is, or be pedantic and say "i thought he had a box..."

You had to do something like that, or the last frame would have to be a gore fest....man peeling split squashed dripping cat from soggy mat...

nope, i have to say, your choice of ending adds a happy note to an already too macabre item.

not bad for a piece that was just an excercise for my mind. a simple 3 by 3 with rhyme, thanks once again for your much harder work than mine, it really is an honour for me.

Yours

{Minion} as was...

You're welcome - it was a pleasure and I didn't work that hard. I'm just glad you like it.

Even if I had wanted to draw the squashed cat gorefest (and part of being human means we always want to draw the squashed cat gorefest at some level - or is that just me?) I wouldn't have been able to because I haven't got the guts. Well, I haven't got them spread over the carpet anyway.

Anyway, thanks again for letting me use your words...

As a cat fan I demand that you follow up swiftly with dog demolition cartoon...

Dem said...

Okay Dick - but you need to write me a dog demolition poem first for me to illustrate...

Inconsequential said...

Take a Dog
Whack with Log
Drown in Bog....

the bog being quagmire type not toilet...hmmm, then again...

Inconsequential said...

oops, sorry, didn't mean to jump in on Dicks idea...

choke with frog was an option too,
thus mindlessly killing two creatures in one go :)

hmmm, almost feel the urge to destroy more animals, etc...all in 3 by 3...

shall go away now and consider how cheesey that might be...

*wanders off in thoughtful mode*

Nice one erm... - what's a decent abreviation for Inconsequential? I reckon you're on to something there anyway. You seem to have a singular talent for figurative demolition of cute creatures. Perhaps there's a book in there somewhere? Anyway, I'll have a go at the dog thing but I'm busy with the play and then Christmas cards so it might be a while! Meantime, you go and kill some more creatures with 3 X 3 if you please...

That's nothing...I've seen him eating raw pig before.

Urgh!

He was hungry though.

When are you going to put some more stuff up then? Hope all is well.

What with one thing and another I've certainly had better weeks! The play is going well though and taking up a lot of my time so I haven't done owt new to put up here. I'll post something about, and the unused image from, the colouring book project when I get a moment to do so (I'm rehearsing all day Saturday and Sunday though so don't hold your breath or owt)...

So glad all this still exists.
