Calling all GoG-ophiles...

For some time I've been thinking of lulu-ing up a 'best-of' this blog, featuring my (and hopefully your) favourite strips from the first n years of doodle-strip-bloggery. While it was just a thought a recent convert to GoG-ophilia (get thee to a nunnery?) suggested much the same thing and so I'm going to do it now-ish.

These are things I'm definitely going to include:

The navelgazer and creativity doodles from here, the paper blog, my blakean delusion, treadmill, gratuitous pussy, heartsd n minds, reasons for taking drugs, wordless thanks, proper jobs, blind in darkness/seeing through gloom, reverend hypocrit preaches, the inner critic, the elvys, all of the doodle
anatomies, four monsieur bohemian-bumbler strips, look ma, no hands!, self portrait after cindy sherman, the berlin wall chad gag here, kev shows mercy to the english king, the money and pencil adverticements, both george strips, feeling light headed, if you're holding onto a rising balloon and maybe a few odds and ends that never made it onto this reincarnated GoG.

These are things I'm not sure whether to include or not (which is where your input is required...):

The first ever doodle strip made specially for GoG, Y Don't U Do A Doodle Blog, The Substance of Love, Big Ugly Giant, the wrong ways to learn lines and escript doodles from here, flights, hot cross bunny, when I was small, love & 8, (un)creative metaphors, overwhelming urge to fly, I thought I was a butterfly, any excuses?, truth & beauty and halt fraid ladip!.

Is there anything I've missed which you'd want to see in it? Sadly I can't include the karaoke doodles for copyright reasons and the two serials, Guild of Ghostwriters #96 and the Kalevala comics, won't be included because I want to collect them in book form when they're completed, but let me know (in comments or email - see profile) if there are other things.

Cheers!

UPDATE: for a prize I have yet to decide the exact nature of, please suggest titles for the published collection. You'll get a credit in the book for doing so PLUS something made by me especially for you. Many thanks!

This is a bit of an experiment to see how coloured pencil works on watercolour paper because I don't like how it works on photocopy paper like wot I usually use. Obviously the text from "if you're hanging... keep a grip..?" is a quote from a film and no prizes for guessing what the film is (but please have a guess anyway...)

I'm in dad mode and not finding much time to doodle and blog for the next week or so but I'll do my best.

Please dump your suggestions for additional moods incompatible with momentous decisions, and/or alternative acronyms, in comments and I will endeavour to draw something that corresponds.

Ta!

(Ooh, and while I'm at it, if you've invited me to participate in a group blog recently and I've done nowt about it PLEASE accept my apologies - I'm struggling to generate enough new content for here just now but will hopefully chip in once I get momentum etc here. And thanks very much for the invites...)

(Yet another) Finglish Birthday Card

For one reason and many I haven't had much opportunity to create this week and so my one creative act was this rush job of a birthday card. I'm only posting this because I'm not sure I'll have chance to make and post anything else before I go away on Friday and that'll mean a lot of time before I get round to posting anything again.

hevos-tyttotxt

Sofia is Finnish and visited Liverpool with her family around this time last summer. Noticing that I was left out of most of the conversations as the only monolingual anglophone in the house, Sofia took it upon herself to tutor me in Suomen kieli. I believe I've mentioned this before. She made flash cards with various words and I demonstrated my understanding by combining the words to make weird characters - lisko-mies, pallo-poika etc. One such weird character that I suggested but didn't actually draw at the time was horse girl - hevonen-tyttö. Sofia quickly corrected me and pointed out that she would actually be called hevos-tyttö. Sofia, like many girls, is rather fond of horses and I got the impression that hevos-tyttö sounded like quite a good friend to Sofia. Accordingly, for Sofia's birthday this week, I quickly scribbled the above card with felt tips.

Off to Bakewell for a wedding on Friday and then to a Yorkshire Dales barn for a few days trafficlessness so if I don't post something tomorrow (and I need to hunt down a haircut) then I won't post anything until at least the middle of next week. Tara until then...

life1 time machines

I had been in the middle of one thing but a combination of not knowing where that thing was going and a gust of impetus for another thing decided me to jump ship, leaving me with nothing to post and a sixth of July gone postless. Accordingly I quickly scribbled this...
