Heyup A/M

It said on the flyer for the competition that short listed artists would be notified 'after 26th October'. Perhaps it's not your policy to do so but to put myself out of misery and end the wait I'm wondering if, having heard nothing, it's safe to assume I'm not short listed?

>Sorry for the delay, we have had 60 + artists contribute work which means we have been looking for extra galleries to display the work. Your work has been selected so please await further instructions... ! m

I just spotted you getting up close and personal to those 19th century mustaches! I thought, surely that must be that Guild of Ghostwriters Dem I sometimes see at RRs and Marja-Leena's... and it was!
So I thought I'd just say hello, and now bravo on this shortlisting, and also I discovered you can't take videos portrait format too, (which pissed me right off at the time)

Thanks rr, natalie, lolabola - I'll let you all know on here what's happening etc

Heyup Lucy, thanks for stopping by. I'm a few days into growing a moustache for a part in a play so when I saw the Moustaches blog listed I thought I'd check it out. It's a lot of fun but not much help in terms of growing a moustache. I was really sorry to read about Molly's woes - it sounds like she's on the mend now so I hope that continues. My own dog is a bit poorly just now - iffy tummy probably brought on by supping dirty puddles but hopefully the antibiotics will stop that. I'm glad I'm not alone in my portrait video lapses, which still occasionally happen I'm ashamed to say. Anyway, once again, thanks.

Congratulations, Dem!

Hopefully they don't keep you waiting too long.

Tel here mate... given up with the 'friends reunited' shi-ite. Anyways, send me an email to workshed@blueyonder.co.uk and i'll write back the second i get it. I think we have lots to discuss ol' buddy.

Stay free,

p.s. Whilst perusing the net i found a post comparing you (in looks alone) to Charles Aznevour..! How cool is that..? I have to agree a certain resemblance transpired as a result of nearly four decades of 'hard-living'. I mustn't grumble;some 19 yr-old kids i'm producing an album for estimated my age (last week) at 'thirty-ish' lol. I'm looking a bit like Tony Iommi (in his devil-worshipping guise) crossed with Rolf Harris/Rex Harrison at the mo. Write soon.

Blimey I've really let this slip haven't I. Sorry for that - blame a hectic rehearsal schedule for The Weir which goes up this week so I'll be done and dusted, home and hosed, finished and fed up by Saturday and will have more time to post here and stuff.

The main news about the competition:

Hearts and Minds is up at the Domino Gallery which is in the Green Fish Cafe just off the bottom of Renshaw Street - forget the actual street name - for all scousers, mousers and woolybacks. I was never all that happy with this new gouache version of it and seeing it amongst the other competition entries only reinforces this. I have no gripes with the gallery or how it's displayed but I wonder if I might feel better if it was alongside other small scale cartoony/gouachey things and it's made me painfully aware of how producing art intended for page and screen can be markedly different from producing art for gallery wall.

Needless to say, I didn't win. As soon as I knew partner of friend Legofesto was in the competition, that was my favourite (I can't be bothered with links just now, will add them later, but just Google Legofesto and you'll see) and though it didn't win, it was one of the super-shortlisted runner-ups. For a list of all the winners, click on the art in liverpool link in my sidebar. I'll come back later, possibly at the weekend, and add links to this but right now I have play related stuff to be doing and a busy day ahead.

Tel! Wow! Great to hear from you. I might delete your comment because having your email there is an invitation to spambots - if I can edit without deleting I will but if you come back here and see your comment gone, it was to preserve your e-privacy. I've sent you an email and hope to hear back from you soon. Peace x
