great stuff...
I hope not tooo autobiographical...

I like the colour - but I wonder if maybe it'd be slightly bolder if you'd just used red ?

good to see you posting...

Thanks mate. More autobiographical than I'd like it to be! I think you're right about red - it didn't cross my mind to use only red until you mentioned it and it instantly struck me as right. Probably won't redo this though.

You've proven that pictures can speak more than words, Dem. Hope that means you are on the mend.

The mixed colours work really well, Dem. Only red might have overplayed the theme a little.

How's the 'tache? How's the condition? (Sorry - other way round!)

Thanks Marja-Leena. Actually with this, something on the borderline between corny and great happened - just as I was finishing it, I noticed a story in it that I had never thought of, planned, conceived, written, made up, created, [whatever you want to call it] consciously at any point from idea to finished piece and yet there this story was (to my mind and I), an unavoidable consequence of this sequence of images. I guess sometimes pictures do more than just speak more than words, sometimes they dig something up from your unconscious and explain it in simple terms.

On the mend in the sense that I'm taking the drugs prescribed and they must be doing some good, but I'm not actually feeling mended, mending, better yet. I've recently decided that if I'm going to be on these pills for a minimum of 12 months, there's a good reason for that and I probably shouldn't expect to feeling mended anytime soon. But I've moved, to a lovely dry house and I have a lovely dry room to make art in so I've been making (albeit still sporadic) use of it.

Thanks Dick - I went for mixed colours because that's how things are - the drugs are those colours, I cough up red blood, the drugs make my urine a sort of orangey colour. I think psychbloke had a point but I have no plans to redo it so this is how it is.

The 'tache is doing okay, gradually recovering from some artless, overenthusiastic trimming. My condition is the same as it ever was! Did you just drop in to see what condition my condition was in?

Dem, so great to see you drawing again and these strips are terrific! I also love the texture of the paper showing through. You've used your medical problem with such style and wit, bravo! But I'm very sorry you're still 'seeing red' and hope those multicoloured meds are doing their job properly. Being in a nice dry house now will help your recovery.
Will update your blog link ASAP.

Thanks N. The texture of the paper is a happy accident - I got a new pad (every now and again, the local art shop sells 100 sheet pads for a tenner, very cheap) and it's not as fine grained as the previous one so it turned out like this. I love it because it reminds me of a Tove Jansson book cover - can't remember which one (except that it's a Moomin book) but it's of a pier, at the end there's a little round bathing hut with coloured glass at the end of the pier. The bathing hut features in the midwinter book but I don't think it's that one because I'm sure the cover of that is wintry.
